Rubik has an existing relationship with 90%+ of financial institutions in Australia and New Zealand. Financial Institutions in Australia are profitable, well regulated and well regarded internationally. Products developed for this market are considered sophisticated and success here would allow international expansion of both product lines and value proposition in the future.
Climate change strategyIn early 2009, Rubik commissioned the Carbon Reduction Institute to undertake a complete carbon footprint audit on the business to see what actions can be taken to reduce the impact Rubik's operations have on climate change. The audit included emissions from electricity usage, flights taken by Rubik staff; fuel usage and waste; staff work travel and staff commuting from and to work; and embodied emissions in Rubik's assets and expenses items.
Rubik now purchases carbon credits from the Karnataka Renewable Energy Project in India to offset their emissions. These carbon carbon offsets are accredited under the Voluntary Carbon Standard and have been third-party audited by DNV. The Project has been registered under the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism since 2007. To find out more about the credits Rubik purchases to offset its emissions please click here.
By undergoing regular quarterly emissions monitoring and annual re-auditing, Rubik can now claim that it is a truly carbon neutral business.
